On the Corner of 600 Block of S. 26th Streets and South Streets (2538 South Street) there are giant trees, taller than the houses that need to be removed, they are so large the pavement is uplifted from the roots of these trees, elderly and handicapped people could easily fall

It is a street tree, it is not private property, the city planted it about 30 years and it is way too big to be on a city street. The street is a very small narrow south philly street, there is no way these trees should have been planted on this street, way too big!
Pavement is buckling because the roots are so big

Large healthy trees such as the ones you point out help to make our air better to breathe, provide protection from the sun and rain and beautify our neighborhood. Perhaps another solution could be sought to level the walkway.
