The Arch Street cross walk in front of the Comcast Center entrance is a great improvement for pedestrians crossing Arch Street to and from the Comcast Center. My concern is that both cars and pedestrians are not utilizing the space correctly. Pedestrians are often blindly crossing or choosing to walk out in front of traffic already within the crossing section. Vehicles are failing to stop appropriately for pedestrians already in the cross walk. Additionally durning high volume times traffic is impeded from waves of pedestrians. Something more then just lights and signs need to be in place for drivers to heed more caution when pedestrians are in the cross walk. The cross walk should also have some means of informing the pedestrians not to cross, especially when it could reduce the traffic backup. This may require a second look by traffic engineers.
