I reported this two weeks ago and it has been completely deleted from the city’s records and does not appear when I tried to report it again today. Other neighbors have also reported it this year and it is not appearing. This huge over 18 inch depression in the street is the result of the liquid amber tree is planted by the city. This needs to be fixed before someone is hurt or possibly killed. Please stop deleting it and put it on the to do list as a priority.

OAK 311 has received this issue. Your service request ID is #1231382. Dear Oaklander, Thank you for taking the time to report a pothole or other needed street repair to the City of Oakland Department of Transportation, or OakDOT. Our next step with your request will be to review it and assign it a priority level so that we can respond as promptly and appropriately as we can to the thousands of requests we receive each year. Your input into this process is critical, as we count on our community to be our eyes and ears as new issues arise or existing issues change. OAK311 is our one-stop shop for public maintenance requests, and it's the best method we have for logging, tracking, and prioritizing requests like yours. We’d like also to take this opportunity to share some information with you about how we’re taking on the bigger task of improving all Oakland streets – including fully repaving streets. In general, for our 3-Year Paving Plan (adopted in mid-2019) we prioritized local streets based on the Pavement Condition Index (https://oakgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8802147bcb4b42bfb21846e36205fe4d), working generally from the worst streets next to schools, to the worst streets otherwise, until our budget target was met. With this plan, we will be repaving more than 70 miles of local streets in three years. This is a massive increase in funding dedicated to local streets: in the past ten years we averaged just under 3 miles of local streets paving per year. More information about the plan, including online maps and Frequently Asked Questions, can be reviewed here: https://www.oaklandca.gov/resources/2019-paving-plan. Unfortunately, even with this aggressive move to address local street conditions, we are not able to prioritize every one of the 300+ local street miles that are good candidates for repaving. We are starting to prepare for our next Paving Plan which should begin next year. If you’d like to receive updates on this process, please sign up here: https://oaklandca19202.activehosted.com/f/112. Thank you again and have a great Oakland day, The OakDOT Team Please check back for status updates, or contact us directly at 510-615-5566.
This is not merely a pothole. It is a crevasse which has been worsening for over two years. It has been reported multiple times. One side has risen up to a height where it impacts vehicles driving over it if they are unfamiliar with this road hazard. Vehicles must drive to the left on the other side to avoid it which is dangerous. Comment removed earlier included a website on how to kill invasive tree roots.
Thank you for your request. According to our system, we already have an open service request of this kind at this location. Your request has been combined with service request #1179501. If you would like to check the status of the request, please contact OAK 311 at 510-615-5566 or OAK311@oaklandnet.com.
