the trouble with this intersection and many others in the city is that there is no delay on the secondary street...so if a car enters, the signal sensor is initiated...but if traffic allows, the car then makes a right on red and by the time the light turns red for the main street we see that there is no car on the green side...very frustrating...there needs to be a delay on the sensor for ten seconds to make sure that the car has not driven away...but that would take a brain and those seem to be in short supply in this city.
There is no functioning sensors it is timed only the senson broke 2 + years ago and the city did not repair the sensor. You are correct about the points you make.
Now the light is just blinking. It is next to impossible to see up the hill when coming out of Erie St. People come down Mill Street far faster than 30mph that is for sure! I am worried about not having a light to let traffic safely turn on Mill Sreet.
I used to really appreciate the "smart light" that we used to have here... it was nice to just drive up to the light and get the green, but I hesitate to push to have it back because when I go to make a left turn off of Mill onto Erie, sometimes there just wasn't ever a break in traffic to make my turn... so I am not sure there is a solution to this dilemma.
I live on Howard St. And I'm glad there is a light or you could never get out with 2 lanes going up and 1 coming down Sorry your inconvenienced BUT how else can cars get out. Leave earlier
meeshka, it's not that they don't want a light there at all, it is just that the light that is there used to be a "smart light" that only turned when there was actually a car there waiting to get out. They would like to go back to that.

I believe it is a smart light cause if you don't pull up on the plate the light doesn't change But it you hit the square in front of light it does change and if you don't want to set of light when making a left drive throw the old parking lot where the house used to sit it won't set off the light
