I LIVE NEXT DOOR THIS GRASS NEEDS CUTTING AND RACCOONS ARE LIVING IN ATTIC! I PAY MY TAXES I WANT SOMETHING DONE NOW! OWNER LOST HIS JOB AND JUST MOVED OUT ALMOST 3 YRS AGO.
I agree! I live a block down from this eyesore and it really bothers me every time I drive down to Baldwin. I have had a half-a-mind to go down there with my lawnmower and take care of it myself, but I'm already regularly mowing the lawns of two other vacant, neglected houses on the street (plus my own house, so I'm doing three houses every week--for free). I guess I can't do them all. Good neighbor, I feel for you! If yours is the house I'm thinking of, you do a really nice job keeping up yours. The contrast between the houses is stark! I'm not surprised about the racoons: the front attic gable window is missing. I noticed a while back it had an Oakland County tax foreclosure for-sale sign on the front door, but that disappeared a week or so ago. I've also noticed various cars parked in the driveway that come and go. Not sure if that's neighbors trying to make it look occupied (which isn't working, due to the obvious abandoned look) or borrowing the parking space, or if its stangers coming from elsewhere using the house for something untoward. Now there is a car with front end damage parked backed up to the garage for a few days. My wife is suspecting its abandoned or stolen.
The rest of the street doesn't look too deteriorated yet, but this is an alarming trend. Like i said, i'm helping to disguise two others that would look just like this if I ween't mowing, and I'm beginning to get worried about yet another one a couple doors down from the one thats the subject of this thread (the one that looks like a double-wide on a foundatio -- don't know the address off hand).
Well, shazam! Today there was a crew out there and cut and trimmed all the grass. Looks much better! Not sure if it was the result of this conversation, or if it was destined to happen due to other causes. Hopefully it will stay mowed now.
