I agree 100% I live in that area and Pine street is too narrow for street parking, also that street needs some speed bumps as people fly down that street too fast. Also Where Pine meets State St. it's a difficult entry onto a very busy State Street also Pine is slightly angled so it's a difficult and narrow turn. I've seen people almost go down over the tiny hill next to that gas station. I've also seen people turn into that gas station off Pine and actually drive on the short part of the sidewalk. It's very dangerous. I also agree that Pine street needs to be a 1 way street, specially with today's traffic. Also there should be NO parking on the street. As a pedestrian it's hard for me to see around some of the vehicles congesting that street. Also if you are near the EMMC Urological Surgery and the office employees park on the street instead of the 2 parking lots (I guess this makes it easier for them to pull out during the end of their day). It blocks all the apartments in that area and sometimes makes pulling into the driveways a little hard for residents. Also if you take cabs there is often NO place for the cab to pull over in front of your own building because the employees of the doctors offices are blocking the entire sidewalk. Also there is a house that loves to grow tall sunflowers on the curb on Pine and that blocks vision as well. Anyway, the EMMC urological surgury is located in the same building as Bangor Plastic and Hand which is technically addressed as being on Broadway, however in all reality the entrance most used is in the back located on Pine St. where the parking lot is also located. Long story short... too late. 4 things should be done to Pine street. 1. NO parking on the street unless it's temporary. 2. Make Pine Street a 1 way street. 3. Add speed bumps in certain places. 4. Alert people on that street to keep bushes, shrubs, and other plants trimmed and/or off the curb (you know the grassy area between the street and the sidewalk). There is a house on Penobscot St it's a ugly purple & green color that has a tiny parking lot that enters Pine St. This is the place that for some strange reason grows very tall plants like sun flowers during the summer that run from the corner of Penobscot to about 117 Pine (a white and tan building). The foliage blocks entrance for pedestrians crossing the street and trying to get up onto that side walk, it blocks view of oncoming cars and other traffic. and is just a plain eye sore. With people speeding up and down Pine as it is it's dangerous to block entry to the sidewalk. For example if someone is using the dumpster that is on Pine that lives at 117 and needs to run out of the way of a speeding vehicle they'll be blocked by all the dense foliage or need to push through it. I don't think it's strong enough to stop someone but at the same time it hinders safety. Sorry to rant about Pine St. but it's a street that needs attention and flies under the radar as a dangerous spot. Consider where Pine meets State. You have heavy traffic on State as well as the busy parking lots of Foster's and the Family Dollar. As well as a lot of pedestrian traffic. On top of that you've got the doctors offices and the church that shares Pine street as an entrance for both places (even though the church is on Essex and the docs offices are on Broadway they both use Pine street all the time).
PS I also hate the noise pollution on Pine street with shares space with local offices near State. at 4:00am several times a week large dump trucks empty out several large dumpsters and there is a ton of banging trashing and clanging going on. Also the beeping is annoying and the loud roar of the engines from the very large trucks. I know that tech the businesses and Apt buildings are located on Broadway but their dumpsters are located on Pine. It's annoying to hear 15 straight minutes of BANG, THUMP, CRASH, BEEP, and their engines going when you don't need to wake up until 7am.
