This mess has not been touched! So, I'm not sure why the issue has been closed. There is trash, mattresses, a car muffler, assorted chairs and other crap all along the right side (mostly) from the beginning of Kathy Ellen Drive starting at 106, going all the way down to the dead end, where people drop off even bigger items late at night when they think no one can see them! It is just a MESS and it would be wonderful if SOMEONE would clean it all up. The more stuff that accumulates, the more stuff that people leave...it gets bigger and bigger, like it is now.
Thanks for using SeeClickFix! Staff needs a more detailed location for this issue. An address, a number block, cross street...... Thank you again for reporting!
I gave you the info you continue to ask for....what is unclear about...starting at 106 Kathy Ellen Drive all the way down to the dead end, mostly on the right side of the street? How is that not understandable to you? I assume you have a map of Vallejo, so you can find the street. PLEASE CLEAN THIS TRASH UP, YOU'VE BEEN ON THIS STREET MANY TIMES BEFORE...
Thank you for reporting! Public Works has one full-time Maintenance worker whose sole job is to respond to illegal dumping reports throughout the City. This person usually makes 2 or more trips to the dump everyday, with each load weighing in around 1,200 pounds. We strive to respond to all reports in a timely fashion. If you see someone dumping illegally please report the incident to the Vallejo Police Department.
So when are you folks going to come and clean up this mess? I've noticed that more and more items are being dumped at the end of the street (it is a dead end street). There are now several couches, a huge TV, a dresser, a bed, and other items. PLEASE come and clean up the mess all along this street, Kathy Ellen Drive starting at #106 and going all the way down the street (the street is only one block long) to the dead end. How long does this take? Thank you.
OMG Vince. You must be kidding. I called VPD that night when I saw the man dumping the items that is currently reported. I immediately called VPD. The truck then was stalled. The man couldn't move. He called for a jump start cuz his truck wouldn't start. It took well over 30 minutes and VPD NEVER CAME. THEY ARE A JOKE!!!!
There hands are tied. Really, all we can do to assist, is take down numbers and be more proactive as a community. The PD in my opinion does more with less then any, anyware. My opinion. Michael Natov
My POINT Michael Natov is this DON'T TELL THE COMMUNITY TO CALL VPD IF WE SEE ILLEGAL DUMPING IN PROGRESS BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT COME OUT. My example is the perfect one because I called them and told them the truck couldn't start and that the man was calling to get a jump start and they could catch him. It took a very long time for the man to get a jump start and no VPD. And I offered to put a camera on my deck, at my cost, to catch these dumpers and VPD told me they couldn't guarantee anything even if they got the information from the tape. THEY R A FN JOKE. (my opinion). Then they had the nerve to just recently call my house for a donation. I wouldn't donate anything associated with VPD.
SO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOU FOLKS AT THE CITY???? THIS WAS REPORTED ORIGINALLY AND ACKNOWLEDGED BY YOU FOLKS ON OCTOBER 20, 2014. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 6, 2014....
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO COME TO KATHY ELLEN DRIVE AND CLEAN UP THE MESS YOU HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED????
THE PILES ARE STILL THERE AND THEY CONTINUE TO GROW....
NOW THERE IS A COUCH AND LOVE SEAT ON THE CORNER OF KATHY ELLEN AND FLEMING, RIGHT ON THE CORNER...
PLEASE COME AND PICK THIS MESS UP.....WHEN WILL YOU COME?????
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU FOLKS??? THE ORIGINAL PILE OF CRAP IS STILL THERE. I REPORTED THIS IN MY FIRST POST OR TWO, GO BACK AND LOOK. BETWEEN 106 &136 ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STREET THERE SITS THE SAME PILE (couch, mattress, table, etc.) . YOU FOLKS NEED TO RETURN AND COMPLETE THE JOB...DON'T KNOW WHY IT SO HARD FOR YOU TO SEE THE CRAP ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET, YOU GUYS MUST HAVE TUNNEL VISION. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ALL TAKEN CARE OF WITH ONE TRIP....
First, I apologize for this very long correspondence. Please read on or all, as My lovely Wife Dina came up with most of this!!! I can't take the full credit! But I am willing to, but only if you really enjoy, so here we go!]
So by the way... Isn't there an HOA active on Kathy Ellen Drive? Thought so... Believe it's called Vallejo Ceros HOA 707-649-1439 AND they charge tenants $344 / month, on average, each and every month, forever. Which for the most part is okay, EXCEPT when cost's go up. They simply pass on said higher expenses to the people who own the condos... Nice, no risks, simply making money that I am guessing doesn't benefit most of us in the greater Vallejo area whatsoever!
Somehow, I feel they, the HOA, is at least partially responsible for this litter issue, on there street!!!.
How are they (HOA) improving Vallejo? Certainly, they are NOT having their tenants, customers or even strangers trash hauled away! See above!!! How about we make who ever the closest real estate owner pay (just like the City's "abatement" policy). (Property Maintenance ordinance Chapter 7.54.030 fyi).
Why are so many people, business's, AND entities (like this HOA) exempt, or at least appear to be on this volatile litter issue???
If I litter, don't keep up MY yard, or even allow litter to accumulate on or near MY property, I receive a threatening {and very real with sharp teeth, too!} letter from the City of Vallejo, explaining how many days to repair flaw, and or pick up litter. This letter is simply called "Warning Notice" and calls out the ordinance violations INCLUDING Consequences of not abating, in monetary (money) values.
1st offence: $225. If still not resolved, then it becomes an administrative citation. This is a tiered system with, are you listening Ceros HOA?, a $200 1st fine, $500 2nd, and any subsequent further violations at $750 - per violation, PER DAY, that each violation continues to exist past the correction date
. Hey Mr Vince M.: This REALLY "pencils out" as a REAL good option for all! Allow the violators most of which are really nice, responsible community members, but others (litter bugs are not nice) to pay, pay, pay!!! At least talk to your higher up, please, Mr Vince M. OR, YOU MAY OPT TO ACTUALLY PICK UP THE TRASH on Kathy Ellen Drive AND the rest of city, at all times. I'm sure you do all you can, however, with your hands, feet, and even the rest of you tied, it is only you performing this critical task for our AWESOME CITY!!! You must admit, we the people, deserve better. And dammit, it will be getting better around here. For this I am personally positive!!!
Maybe they, the HOA, should be fined along with the City of Vallejo. (Vince M., Vince M.'s boss or similar....
Hey! Maybe the two entities just described above should pay a $1000 fine (maybe only $100 first offence each), install surveillance cameras including the cash payment, then get em with $1k and escalate to higher if no noticeable improvement, to promote anti-littering!!! Nice idea!!! Better idea, with the "community" realizing the uptick in monetary improvements or simply our quality of life getting even better, around here!!!!!!!
By the way.... Who do I have to convince to have a citizen or even business charged with littering in the first place? This is a very good topic, in my opinion, and better question!!!
We could have a large surplus budget with all the trash, dog waste, AND others being left on our streets removed almost over night!!!
Not a dream.... Just an alternative reality....... That is completely, and positively probable AND doable!!!
Let us (City of Vallejo and it's occupants) do this, not next week or even tomorrow, but today {Alright, it could start tomorrow, but that's it!!!!!!!!!!!!) And then smooth sailing ahead hopefully...
We are a mariners town, so pun intended after all, what with Maritime Academy AND considering Mare Islands history. Thank you for your very valuable time reading this... Unless you happen to be Vince M. in which case you KNOW you had this coming, but truly sorry to you as long as you live in this great City of ours where most of us refer to it as Vallejo too! {Not V Town unless we are out of town!!!}
Get a grip dude...the trash and other debris ARE NOT on the HOA property, but on the apartment building property. So, THEY are the folks that really should be cleaning up the mess on THEIR property.
Agreed dudess!!! Except.... Wait a minute! The debris is still on there property AND still technically the responsibility of, you guessed it: The HOA!!! I don't really believe for an instant that VPD will take ANY action against the aforementioned group of people that are called Ceros. But they should, and do you know why? Because the liability is theirs, the upkeep is theirs, they handle odds and ends dealing with whatever impedes the quality of life of people that reside there, AND guess what? Trash is there responsibility also! Mostly, because who else is going to actually bend or stoop over, and pick up some discarded sucker or what have you left by one of the tenants? Not you or me certainly, (or we wouldn't be talking, would we?) but the HOA HAS to stop the buck with them. In essence, this is one (of a litany) of problems in this AWESOME city. Very few citizens are willing to pick up someone else's trash, but everybody has input, snide remarks, criticism, you pick the next comment.... Michael
Thanks for reporting! The one Grounds Maintenance worker who picks up illegal dumping is heading out there today to pick up all of the debris that is in the right-of-way and on city property. We have alerted Code Enforcement to the issue with the apartment complex; if appropriate, they will work with the Neighborhood Law Program to get this area cleaned up.
UPDATE: Code Enforcement has been working with several properties in this area to get them cleaned up. You can call them directly regarding the status of these issues at 707-648-4389.
Thank you Courtney S. at Public Works Admin. THIS is the most helpful information I've received here. I appreciate the fact that code enforcement is working with the property owners to get them to keep their property clean and free of trash and debris. THANK YOU!!
Thanks for reporting! All illegal dumping on city property and right-of-ways has been removed. We are aware that this is a nuisance area and have directed our illegal dumping staff to do more frequent drive-bys at this location, when possible, to pick up anything that has been dumped.
For a status on anything regarding the Code Enforcement or NLP (Neighborhood Law Program) actions, please contact them directly at 707-648-4389.
