Description
Hi,
I'd like to see what it takes to request slowdown signs in my neighborhood. I'm a home owner in a new neighborhood call "Dalton Park" in Sammamish (My address is 22347 SE 39th Pl). Homes are still being constructed and set to be done by June, 2021. We have a notices that the cars seed in this neighborhood which is a safety issue, with the neighborhood 60% occupied and with a lot of kids.

I am also a resident in the Dalton Park community. People drive very fast while the kids are playing out. Please create a couple of speed bumps and slow down sign.

Good afternoon, thank you for your request to the city. We apologize for the delayed response as the city's traffic team has seen significant turnover in the last year and a half.
This location at Dalton Park already has "Slow Down, Kids Playing" signs installed in several locations in the neighborhood. Unfortunately the city is unable to install speed bumps as speed bumps have been shown through numerous engineering studies to to be ineffective at controlling speeds and causes more issues with noise and emergency vehicle accessibility, amongst others.
Please keep in mind if you see repeat speeders, you may report them by calling the King County Sheriff's Office 24-hour communications line at 206-296-3311, or by reporting online (for non-emergent crimes) at this web address: https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/sheriff/on-line-reporting/on-line-reporting.aspx. You may also consider notifying your HOA of speeding issues, as they can then send notices to all homeowners in the neighborhood.
Please also kindly keep in mind city-owned public roadways should not be considered safe play areas for children, even if it is a residential road. The most well-marked signage on roadways cannot account for drivers who are distracted and not paying attention to the road.
Your request to the City of Sammamish has been closed at this time. Please let us know if you have any questions by commenting on the request. Thank you!
