Description
Vehicles coming in from Rte 70 East onto Marlkress Road, seldom yield or stop when they make a left turn onto the Greentree (connector) road. Vehicles arriving on Marlkress road from Kresson Road and proceeding towards Rte 70 East or those trying to make a right turn onto the Greentree (connector) road are not given the right-of-way by the opposing traffic that turn left. This is a huge problem especially during peak hours. It's a dangerous hot spot and pretty nasty for a collision.
I hope the township authorities or police take note of this, will step in and install a STOP sign on Marlkress Road, to regulate the traffic that makes a left onto the Greentree (connector) road.

> The left tuen has its own lane and the right turn has its own lane. There is no reason to yield or stop unless there is a car proceeding straight out to Rt 70 East. So both lanes have a right of way so traffic doesn't back up on Rt 70" <
During peak hours, cars make turns from both - the right and left lanes. Cars making "right" need to quickly get onto the "left" lane to turn right onto Rt 70 West, unless they drive straight ahead at the signal. Similarly, cars making "left" need to get onto the "right" lane to turn onto Rt 70 East. However, cars here don't give way easily. In the absence of a "Yield" or "Stop" sign many cars assume a right-of-way while turning left and don't care to yield making it a dangerous spot.
>There cannot be a stop sign 100 to 200 yards from Rt 70 because the line of traffic would back up onto rt 70 right turn lane <
Well then at least provide a "Yield" sign for the left turn.
>Slow moving locals apporach the intersection indecisively and create more danger <
One necessarily has to slow down to make a safe turn. Life is more precious and important than rash and speedy driving. Posted speed limit is 35 mph on the local road near the turn. Pretty much many cars turning left assume that the connector road is itself Marlkress road. They don't realize or know that Marlkress runs from Kresson Rd to Rt 70. The connector road is "not" Marlkress road. Folks making a left turn ought to slow down.

To all issues there are pros and cons. Some may agree while others may oppose but it is for the township / municipality / traffic authorities to assess the situation independently in a non partisan approach. Unfortunately, they don't seem to care and I don't think they ever visited the spot even once.
What's the point in keeping the issue open if the township / municipality / traffic authorities have a callous attitude? So, I am closing it.
