Description

The City of Portland Inspections / Building Department has neither overseen nor curbed this unpermitted wrecking project since June of 2027, despite multiple reports on this site.

A wide assortment of contractors have stripped this house, inside and out, as well as built an unpermitted addition that has illegally expanded the building footprint. Today they are removing vintage asbestos siding without any certification, permits, or protection for the neighborhood. What the heck does it take to get a city professional to be willing to protect our neighborhood from being exposed to crushed asbestos siding and carcinogens? Should we call the police instead of Portland Building Inspections? PLEASE HELP US!!!!

Q. What have you observed?
A. Repeated reports by multiple neighbors to the city of Portland Inspections Dept have neither controlled nor guided this demolition and build project. The project continues without any guidelines or permits. Unpermitted renovations, multiple trailers full of building materials delivered and huge amounts of removed building materials are filling up our island transfer station. Removal of asbestos siding without EPA approved protection for the workers as well as the environment and the neighborhood.
