This has been an ongoing problem for years. It's connected to the other mess of dumpsters on the corner of 6th and Washington. Proving once again that if you are politically connected you can do what others can't.

FYI, this yard can be accessed from Federal St and is located at the intersection of Federal and Marshall Streets.

This same issue is submitted by someone or another about once a month.
Nothing ever gets done.

Posting another photo of Saigon Maxim's trash pit located at the intersection of Federal and Marshall Streets. This was taken today - Monday, November 14th, 2011. Nothing has happened since this ticket was posted last week. Philly311 - are you there?

This disgusting mess is there nearly everyday for neighbors to look at and smell in the air. Did I mention that it is a popular destination for stray cats?

It's hard to imagine that they're actually preparing and serving food to people on the other side of that wall. Does the city have a health department?

They dont even have a trash bin,dont they have private contractor pick that up?? the health department is a joke

If they had dumpsters and private pick-up they would have to pay the $150-$300 dumpster license fee per dumpster.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that they are cheap bastards and thought they could get away with chucking it out there and hauling it away themselves in the back of that broke-@#$% looking truck.

Normally I would say something like, this is the United States not China and we have laws about letting the rear of your restaurant look and smell like that, but this is Philadelphia, so we are somewhere in the middle.

where r they dumping that stuff no trucks are allow into the sanitary department. oh my they just proabley dump into a vacant lot or river i bet. that is really gross to think that they are doing that.

The irony of the "Inedible" labels in picture 2 is almost too much to bear

The restaurant staff sometimes hang their aprons to dry in this yard. I saw a man take down aprons from a clothesline and take them into the restaurant, walking past a stray cat on the way to the entrance.

That's right, the clothing which is in direct contact with this establishment's food is also in direct contact with anything also present in this dumping ground, e.g., stray cats, vermin, odors, etc.

A new litter of feral cats inhabits Saigon Maxim's sprawling landscape of trash. And, just as the circle of life is certain to continue, so does the City's indifference to do a damn thing about this.

This is only one of many restaurants that think sanitation is a joke. where are the reporters and inspectors,you cant tell me that they cant stop this, the quality of like is getting worse in the city, while people spend more and more on there homes, to try to make the neighborhoods better and then you get these ignorant people who just ruin it for all. if you drive by 6 and wolf park you will see the city cleans and pick up trash there every day, why are they so special and people like the people on washington ave and behind are ignore??

I think y r correct marchi, we are wasteing our time reporting these problems maybe if we are lucky, the city will clean it once, and then it is put under the rug, like everything else. until election time and they want your vote,then they will do it in front of camera for votes, what a joke.

Maybe we'll get a lot of snow this winter to cover over this mess for a few months. At least it won't smell as bad.

Added to the refuse in this yard is a broken-down van with a smashed window. A community of feral cats comes and goes from the van, where they've been living in the cold months. Certainly, as the warmer weather moves in, things are going to start smelling pretty awful.
