Map widgets allow visitors to your website to see the SeeClickFix issues that have been reported in an area and to report issues of their own.

Step 1: Widget Appearance

Start by picking a color scheme for your widget. Next select your layout options such as whether to show the "Report an Issue" and "Create a Watch Area" buttons across the top of the map, and whether to show the Issues List along the side.

Under "Issues to Display," you can filter by status which issues you’ll see in the widget.

Step 2: Filtering Issues

You have control over the types of issues that will appear in your widget.

By Location

The map covers the area that your widget will show issues from - drag it around, or type in a new location at the top of the map, to set it to the area you’re interested in. If you want only issues from a certain town or city, you can pick it from the "Boundaries" menu (you can also pick some smaller neighborhoods and larger counties, too).

By Category

You can control which categories of issues appear in your widget. Your site visitors can report any kind of issue through your widget, but only issues in the categories you select will appear on your site. For example, you could create a pedestrian safety widget, that shows issues with Street Signals, Pedestrian Lights, and Crosswalks. You site visitors can still report issues related to bike lanes or potholes through your widget, it just won’t appear on the map you’ve created.

By Keyword Search

If the categories are still too broad, you can filter issues by keyword search across their summary and description. Keywords that start with ‘+’ are required, and keywords that start with ‘–’ will remove issues. You can make keyword phrases by wrapping words in double-quotes.

These keywords: match issues whose summary or description:
"parking ban" snow plow contains parking ban, or snow, or plow
+"parking ban" snow plow contains parking ban, and either snow or plow
plow parking –lot contains plow or parking, but not lot
plow –"parking ban" contains plow, but not parking ban

By Reported Date

You can limit the issues shown by the date they were reported. For example, to create a widget that only shows issues from the last 3 months, but not in the last 6 hours, drag the left slider until it says "3 months," and the right slider until it says "6 hours."

Step 3: Widget Details

Entering a Title helps you keep track of the widget you are making, which is especially useful if you're going to be generating a few of them. If you’re logged in to your SeeClickFix account with a verified email address, it will automatically be input as your contact information. Once you’ve generated your widget, be able to view and edit it under "My Account" in your user menu.

Rest assured that when you input your contact information, we will keep it private. It will not be distributed in any way, shape, or form and will never be publicly visible on SeeClickFix, or on any website where our data is displayed.

Map widgets allow visitors to your website to see the SeeClickFix issues that have been reported in an area and to report issues of their own.

Step 1: Widget Appearance

Start by picking a color scheme for the widget. You can also choose whether it shows the Issues List by default, or the form for reporting an issue.

Under “Issues to Display,” you can filter by status which issues you’ll see in the widget.

You can also choose whether to show each issue’s address, the number of people who want it fixed, and its status (open, acknowledged, or closed).

Under "Issues to Display," you can filter by status which issues you’ll see in the widget.

Connect to a SeeClickFix map widget

If you have created and embedded a SeeClickFix map widget on a separate page of your site, put the link to that page in "URL for associated map widget". Doing this allows our system to connect your widgets and keep visitors on your site longer. Site visitors preview issues reported in their area through a text widget on your homepage. By clicking "Report" or on any of the issues displayed on your text widget, your visitors will automatically be routed to your SeeClickFix map widget by connecting the two!

If, on step 1, you chose to display the widget title, this is the title that will appear.

Rest assured that when you input your contact information, we will keep it private. It will not be distributed in any way, shape, or form and will never be publicly visible on SeeClickFix, or on any website where our data is displayed.

The comparative widget ranks your neighborhood against others near you, encouraging friendly competition.

Set the width and height of your widget to match the space you have available for it on your site.

Choose Areas to Compare

Search for your neighborhood, and you’ll also see a list of nearby places. Click on the ones you want to compete with.

You’re not limited to competing with nearby places. Once you’ve selected your city, try searching for one that’s farther away - see how your neighborhood compares to New York, or San Francisco.
