Active Construction Issue Acknowledged1-49 Briggs St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricPlease immediately remove the invasive species callers pear that we just saw planted on the new champlain parkway by Distefano Landscaping folks. These are extremely invasive and banned in many states already. We already have buckthorn taking over our city and can’t risk another. we need to do better!

Traffic Signal Problems ArchivedHome Ave & Shelburne Rd Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
It appears recent rephasing of this signal has made traffic flow less efficiently.
Since the work was done in the last 2 weeks, afternoon southbound traffic is regularly backed up much further than it was previous to the work. Starting as early as 3:15, traffic can sometimes be back to Ferguson Ave. Eastbound traffic is also seeing more significant back ups. Northbound traffic is sometimes backing up into the intersection with the end of the 189 ramp in ways it didn't previously.
Could the signal technician please monitor this intersection on a weekday afternoon to see if some minor modifications to the phasing could improve the flow? One thought is to have the south signal go to green for both the southbound traffic and the traffic turning left onto Farrell Street, as it was previously. The new phasing has a delay between when the green arrow shows and when the southbound light fully turns green. This delay seems to create an unnecessary delay in getting southbound traffic through the intersection.
Understandably, this entire area is poorly designed with three traffic lights in quick succession but until the Shelburne Road corridor study happens, many years from now, I know we're stuck with the mess we have.

Traffic Signal Problems ArchivedBarrett St & Colchester Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
This is a copy of Issue ID: 15585313 which was closed out with no explanation and the issue not fixed. Please provide a description of what was done to resolve this unsafe situation.
No delay before green light for vehicles turns on when a person walking is crossing Barrett Street on Colchester Ave during the pedestrian light phase. This is especially dangerous when a person is crossing from the Domino's across Barrett Street as people driving vehicles trying to make a left onto Barrett often "jump" the light because of the large line of vehicles heading north on Colchester Ave. By the time a person walking is halfway across the road vehicles are often going very fast across the crosswalk. I have almost been hit on several occasions but luckily I am aware of this hazard. This is a location where a person walking was killed in 2012 by a person driving a vehicle making a left turn onto Barrett. Please fix the signal to give people walking a delay before vehicles are allowed to go.

Parks Department Issue Acknowledged1-17 Lake St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricNew Tent stakes are at the edge of the pavement and present a hazard to path users. (The creamy stand in general does, but I know we are stuck with it, particularly when customers stand in the path and block users.) These stakes, especially to bike riders are a could really do some damage.

Traffic Signal Problems Archived82 S Winooski Ave Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington ElectricAt the pedestrian crossing on the corner of Bank St. and S. Winooski, the duration of the green light for pedestrians has changed. When the north-south traffic light changes to red, it takes a full 5 seconds before the pedestrian light turns green. This has always been a short light, but now if you wait for the green hand you have very little time to cross. I suggest cutting that from 5 to 2 seconds and increase the overall time for pedestrians to cross by another 10 seconds.

Sat for 4 light cycles and easily could have gone around but guy in middle of road would not let anyone pass but only in one direction.
No safety for pedestrians and almost hit runners.
Work equipment lacked plates required by law.
Perhaps time to hold these few contractors winning every rfp to account?
