  • 453-499 Louisiana Avenue Northeast Washington, District of Columbia - Downtown
Drivers appear to feel that since they don't need to stop, they can roll right through the intersection despite the fact the pedestrians in the crosswalk have a signal indicating that they can go.
  • pothole Arkiverad
8732 1st Avenue Silver Spring, Maryland - Silver Spring
There is a fairly large pothole near on 1st Ave (in front of 8732) - luckily, not blocking the driveway, but an inconvenience for anyone driving toward Spring.
  • 8729-8799 1st Avenue Silver Spring, Maryland - Silver Spring
The garbage can on the outkirt of Woodside Park (along 1st Ave) is overflowing and the garbage has not been picked up in well over a week. We have seen foxes scavenging for food among the trash there. Something needs to be done about this soon with the foxes moving into looking for food in the yards across the street from the park.
  • 1400-1432 Spring Street Silver Spring, Maryland - Silver Spring

There were new leaning trees planted along Spring Street. Unfortunately, they weren't planted well and are leaning. They are also leaning on the power lines. As the trees grow (at severe angles), this will only get worse.

I have attached a picture that I took a short while ago.

  • 8729-8799 1st Ave Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
A tree has fallen on the tennis court at Woodside Park, damaging the tennis court fence again (I believe this may be the remaining half of the tree that fell during the derecho storm months ago). This time it was due to Hurricane Sandy.
  • 1st Ave & Fenwick Lane Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
Currently, this insection only has two stop signs - one for traffic coming out of the parking garage and one for traffic on 1st Avenue. Fenwick Lane doesn't have any stop signs, so vehicles can plow right on through. Often cars and trucks are parked so pedestrians' views of cars coming by on Fenwick are blocked. It would be more helpful if this was turned into a four-way stop (albeit, people often don't make (full and complete) stops as it is at the 1st street sign).
  • dead raccoon Arkiverad
8729-8799 1st Ave Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
There is a dead raccoon in the middle of the street in front of 8732 1st Avenue.
  • 8729-8799 1st Ave Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
There are two trees by Woodside Park: one is totally down, and is fallen across the tennis court gate; the other is right near it, having partially been downed. Both occurred during the storms a week ago. While the tennis court tree hasn't impeded use of the court, it is a reminder of the last major storm which did the same thing. Luckily, the damage isn't as bad this time around.
  • Garbage Arkiverad
1st Ave Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
A bunch of garbage at this public trash can has been pulled and dumped out of the can and dumped on the ground surrounding the unit. It was possibly done by either an animal or a homeless person overnight (it is currently Sunday morning). I'm not sure anyone in the neighborhood wants to wait until trash day on Thursday to see it cleaned up.
  • 8732 1st Ave Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
A tree right along the roadway has many rotten spots and seems like it has pretty much become hollow on the inside. It sure feels like it may come down in the near future. If it does come down, it will probably fall across 1st Ave. It should be removed sooner rather than waiting until a storm knocks it down.
  • Georgia Ave And Spring St Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
I was walking across this intersection a few minutes ago and in the span of 2.5 minutes I saw two near car accidents and one full-on car accident due to people attempting U-turns on Spring Street at the Georgia intersection. This needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.
  • Spring St Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
The streetlight on Spring Street that is nearly directly across from 1400 Spring Street is out. I walked by it tonight and it didn't seem to be operational.
  • Dead squirrel Arkiverad
1323 Fenwick Ln Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
There is a dead squirrel (covered in flies) on the sidewalk on Fenwick Lane, next to the public telephone (the section of Fenwick between 1st and 2nd Ave). I'll spare everyone by not taking and uploading a picture. Needless to say, it needs to be disposed of.
  • Fenwick And 1st Ave Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
The sidewalk around this house has mostly not been shoveled yet. I have slipped on the ice trying to traverse it a few times over the past week.
  • 2nd Ave And Fenwick St Silver Spring, MD - Silver Spring
After a week, most of the sidewalk near the house on the corner of Fenwick and 2nd has not been shoveled of it's snow. I've slipped a few times trying to walk it.
  • 8522-8550 2nd Ave Silver Spring, MD 20910, USA - Silver Spring
A sign used to be here (as I recall, it indicated no U turns) near the end of the center aisle/median. However, it was knocked down at some point and not replaced. Plenty of of drivers are taking advantage of it to commit u turns and nearly hitting pedestrians.
  • 1401-1499 Spring St Silver Spring, MD 20910, USA - Silver Spring
Most motorists do not stop for pedestrians crossing into the crosswalk, despite clear signs indicating it is a law and that the crosswalk exists.
  • Columbus Monument Dr Nw Washington D.C., DC 20002, USA - Capitol Hill
At this crosswalk at Union Station, especially in the evening/night, cars do no stop for pedestrians in the clearly marked crosswalk. I myself was almost hit by a car here a few days ago.
  • 8725 1st Ave Silver Spring, MD 20910, USA - Silver Spring
On the side of the road next to Woodside Park, there is broken glass (possibly safety glass from a windshield) It has been there for a few days. It is on the speed bump and hard to see at night until you're nearly on top of it.
  • Lights out Arkiverad
152 Massachusetts Ave Ne Washington, DC 20002, USA - Capitol Hill
Many of the streetlights, particularly the two after crossing Massachusetts/Columbia Circle right before Union Station Drive, are out. This one is a particular problem as it is by the crosswalk across Massachusetts/Columbus and as someone who works late and walks across this, I can see it makes it very difficult for drivers to see people in or near the crosswalk. These lights have been out for months now.
