Last year this intersection was painted to delineate a straighter Quinnipiac Avenue. The city placed several posts to mark this layout and it worked well for a while, but with the snow, the plows ripped almost all of them.
Drivers have gone back to using unsafe turns into Hemingway St, right over the painted area and other, more reckless drivers, have used the extra space to pass vehicles with complete disregard of the double yellow lines. There was supposed to be a plan to redo this intersection; I don't know if a little paint was the extent of it. I have small children who take the bus to school and frankly, it scares me to walk them to the bus. What is the plan for this intersection? What is the plan for dealing with the reckless drivers who feel empowered to pass drives over a double yellow? What's the plan for dealing with the roaming bands of thugs parading up and down the avenue with unlicensed 2 or 4 wheeled vehicles performing all sorts of reckless stunts?
This issue affects the quality of life of everyone on the intersection. I suggest raised intersections, traffic cameras with enforcement power and better signage.
