Can the city please address this constant problem of residents not properly securing their recycling containers and lacing them out far too early, especially on windy days such as today? I arrived home today here at my residence on Grove Street to this absolute mess of everyone else’s trash! This seems to happen more times than not, since the city does not provide the residents of Gloucester the proper recycling containers and people are just leaving the open top containers (provided by the city) as well as all things brown paper bags, which the wind just whips around and scatters their trash all amongst the street (mostly in front of my home and my elderly neighbor)! In my opinion this littering! Is it not? I even notified the Gloucester Police regarding this issue today to see if I could get some sort of assistance from them and they advised me to notify the city for this issue? Either way I expect this issue to be resolved accordingly. Residents need to be more proactive and use more common sense to not allow their trash to end up scattered all throughout the city, and the city officials need to hold this residents accountable for their actions. Thank you for your time with this matter and I would greatly appreciate if the city could send up a crew to pick up all of this trash since I have severe back issues myself and my neighbor is elderly and in his 80’s!

Please dispatch a city crew along with a street sweeper to Maplewood Ave @ Grove Street intersection. On Friday evening it was brought to my attention by a neighbor that there was a large quantity or construction screws and nails that apparently had fallen off of the back of some contractors truck and spilled amongst the roadway on Maplewood Ave. I notified the Gloucester Police Department of the road hazard and they dispatched a cruiser. I myself went into the roadway with a police detail to make an attempt to sweep up and remove the screws / nails from the roadway. However, with it being dark out and not having adequate lighting, I’m quite certain that I did not remove all of these screws. So if you could please look into this further to be sure that all of these hazards are properly removed from the roadway. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with this matter.

Could the city send a supervisor to Grave Street @ Colonial Street along the cemetery side to inspect this extremely large tree limb which fell from the tree within the property line of the Oak Grove Cemetery onto city property? This particular tree amongst many others along the cemetery wall / roadside area of Grove Street definitely needs to be inspected and addressed appropriately to ensure public safety of the many residents whom walk within these locations. It’s purely good luck In timing that nobody was hit by this large limbs which could’ve caused serious injuries to one or even death. I have reached out to Oak Grove Cemetery Trustee Mr. Matthew Babson regarding this particular issue, but still have had no response back from him. However, regardless of these large frail trees being within cemetery property, the city should be sure that these falling limbs are not posing any hazardous risks to the public. Thank you so much for your anticipated cooperation with this serious matter.

Can the city please do something to address the growing geese issue at the Babson Reservoir. I would think that this being a public water supply that the issue of geese continuously releasing their rather large feces droppings all throughout this location would pose a potential health risk. I believe the city should research this issue to see if these geese are indeed creating a health issue to our community and its vital water supply or at the very least move these geese on from this location as well as other public spaces throughout the city such as all around the O’Maley School / Dr. Osman Rd. recreational ballfields and track. These are the locations where I walk my dog, as well as do other pet owners and these areas within the ballfields as well as around the perimeter are layered and covered with geese feces. Unfortunately, I have a dog which I can bring to the Gloucester Dogpark due to her not taking to other dogs there. I have attempted to walk my dog up at Stage Fort Park, however there are too many dog owners who do not abide by the city’s leash ordinance. I have notified both Gloucester Animal Control as well as the Gloucester Police only to not have any response nor action taken. Please help to address all these issues on all levels! Thank You for your anticipated cooperation with this matter.

I dropped my elderly mother off this morning to the city archives located in the basement of Gloucester City Hall and the handicap access walkway to the Handicap Access door was completely covered in snow and ice. If the city is going to open City Hall on snow / icy days such as today, then they’d better be on their game of keeping it safe not only for the handicapped or elderly individuals who visit City Hall daily, but for the individuals who work or have business to be conducted in a city building such as City Hall and other public locations as well! I anticipate your cooperation with this safety concern and matter.

This request is not regarding missed recycling pick up, it is in regards to the many residents on Grove Street and surrounding streets as well as throughout Gloucester whom carelessly leave their recycling out too early prior to trash / recycling pick days as well as not properly securing their recycling / trash which seems to be weekly now and on a windy day such as yesterday and today their recycling blows out from their open top recycling bins and scatters all up and about in front of my residence. The pictures I’ve attached don’t show justice of how much trash is scattered about. My elderly neighbor and I spent over an hour this morning reclaiming all of this trash and placing all of these items in our recycling containers with lids on them. I’m gonna say that my neighbor and myself are fed up with all of these careless people who clearly don’t care where their trash ends up. I work hard and go above and beyond to keep my street looking nice and clean. I think the Gloucester Police should be issuing tickets to these individuals and hand out tickets for littering cause all in all, this is exactly what it is…littering !!!! I also think that either the D.P.W. or City Hall Officials should look into getting residents in this city the proper recycling bins with lids on them as I have seen done in city’s out of town such as Danvers, since nobody wants to take blame or execute a fix to this issue throughout the entire city. Thank you for you anticipated cooperation with this problem.

Could you please send a city crew to the corner of Madison Ave & Ivy Court to pick up all of the illegally dumped items (chairs, grills, birdcage etc…), along the sidewalk which had now become a hazard to pedestrians. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with this matter. I have notified Shaw’s Grocery Store to have them recover their shopping carriages that are also left in this location as well.

My windshield was broken this morning while traveling up 128 northbound extension by a driver who did not properly clear the snow / ice from the top of their vehicle as required and stated by Massachusetts State Law. My question is, how many tickets has the G.P.D. issued this winter alone to these careless drivers? I’ll be next to none. I have traveled many times throughout this city as well as many others and have witness police cruisers traveling behind these drivers with the officers never ever pulling these vehicles over to issue citations? Why is that? Only my windshield was cracked this morning. However, I have seen first hand while commuting throughout the northeast as an engineer for many years what these ice projectiles can do, they can be very dangerous and harmful and in some cases deadly !!!! These drivers need to be cited and held accountable for their negligence. Please pass this on to the GPD !!!!

To whom it may concern: while having some dental work performed at my Dentist Office on Dale Ave. it was brought to my attention sitting in the waiting area of the potentially and very serious hazardous situation where an unsuspecting individual could potentially walk into and or fall due to the cut off surplus of the old meter poles surplus sticking up from the sidewalks all up and down the Dale Ave location as well as other areas of the downtown district where this hazardous situation may also be occurring. In my opinion this clearly is a very serious safety hazard to the many individuals who walk up and down this location both during the day and night time hours, which clearly becomes more of a hazard in the darkness of night. I would suggest and recommend that the city officials expedite to dispatch crew to completely remove all of these cut off poles so that they are below the sidewalk elevation and not a tripping hazard as they have become now! Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with this matter. I will be monitoring and following up in the near future to be sure this issue is being addressed and resolved.

The constant issue of dog owners who frequent The Oak Grove Cemetery on a daily basis for years now while allowing their dog(s) to roam free off of their leashes and to defecate on individuals loved ones graves is so beyond disrespectful to say the very least! The photo I have attached to this complaint shows a large mound of dog feces bags which these do owners just toss near a tree located in the middle location of the cemetery near someone loved ones graves. In my opinion it’s time for the city officials to step in and put this practice to an abrupt end. These people treat this most historic cemetery with many of Gloucester’s historic resident’s graves are located such as Addison Gilbert to Fitz Henry Lane as though it was Stage Fort Park where there is already a Dog Park for these careless and most ignorant people to access. I expect the city officials to treat this complaint with the most highest priority. I’m available if there needs to be a conversation regarding this complaint. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. This individuals graves should be treated as holy and private property since they or their families paid for these plots prior to their passing and it should not to be treated as a public park / dumping ground !!!!!

Please send a crew to the area of Lucy Davis Brown Pathway location to secure the lamp globes back onto the lamppost on several lights like the one shown in the photo I have submitted within this location that have become compromised due to the high winds from these recent storms we experienced. These loose globes are a serious fall hazard to the many pedestrians / pets the frequent this location. Thank you for your anticipated prompt cooperation with this matter !!!!

A few months ago I logged on seeclickfix site to report roofing shingles debris being blown off in large numbers of the Antonio Gentile Bandstand located within Stage Fort Park scattering these roof shingles all around the vicinity of the bandstand. At the time I initially reported my claim both my dog and I were nearly struck by some of these shingles. Tonight (05/15/21 again as I routinely do each night I was again walking my dog and saw roofing shingles being constantly blown off of the roof area of the bandstand and visibly scattered all around the grass areas and walkway. I did take a moment to step back to get a visual look at the roof of the bandstand and noticed just how broken down and compromised the shingles have become. Please look into replacing this roof asap or at least install some sort of a tarpon around the roof area to prevent the public visitors and their pets from being struck by this dangerous debris being blown around especially during these high wind conditions we tend to get, especially up at Stage Fort Park location. Thank you for anticipated cooperation with this matter. I will be constantly monitoring this area to be sure this safety issue is being taken seriously and ultimately being addressed. Thank you for time.

While walking my dog in the vicinity of the boulevard / Stage Fort Park along the Lucy Davis Pathway I observed this light pole fixture (3rd pole towards the end of the path), which was severely leaning over and about to tumble over (possibly on passing walkers / runners etc..). I believe this situation needs to be addressed immediately due to the fall risk of hitting an unknown passer by within this location. Thank you for you anticipated cooperation with this potential hazardous situation.

Legible walking my dog up at Stage Fort Park in the vicinity of the Antonio Gentile Bandstand over these past few months, I have experienced several asphalt roofing shingles being blown off of the roof top of the gazebo nearly hitting not only myself, but my dog as well as other visitors to the park, I truly believe this is an issue that promptly needs to be addressed by the city for the hazardous reasons of having construction materials being blown off and whipped around the entire area within the bandstand location. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

To whom it may concern, my question and concern is why the Gloucester D.P.W. plow drivers as well as the city’s hired subcontracted plow drivers aren’t plowing these city roadways from curb to curb and they are all consistently leaving the snow surplus from several inches to literally feet from the curbside and back into the roadways, all throughout the city! Is there a city quality official who is is designated to travel throughout the city streets after snowstorms to be sure that these hired plow drivers and city plow drivers are clearing these city streets to the highest standards possible, especially due to the high taxes all of us residents pay for such services such as snow removal? My second question and concern is why the city officials aren’t enforcing snow removal from the sidewalks by homeowners and tenants? Is there not a ordinance which requires all homeowners, property owners and tenants to clear snow in front of there homes / properties? If Yes, why is this ordinance not being enforced? There are several children, elderly as well as general population individuals whom do not have access to there own private vehicles or cannot afford to ride in taxis / cabs as well as public transportation and they now are forced to walk and travel on the roadside of these dangerous streets and clearly in harms way? Can we please look into these questions and concerns I have stated here and attempt to address these highest priority concerns? Thank you all for your anticipated cooperation with these matters.
