potholes on both sides of road;cars serving to avoid them--lots of students walking around--one especially large hole getting bigger!!! 29 days later.......
The city can only make temporary "cold patch" repairs this time of year. Unfortunately "cold patch" often pops out shortly after it's applied. Warm weather is required to make permanent repairs in asphalt.
I hope you collected from the city. They pay out for this kind of damage routinely. (That's why the city has liability insurance.) You need to back up & document your claim, e.g. take a photo of the pothole & of the car's damage, etc.
no i did not collect, but thank you for your consideration and suggestion. when spring comes and SCSU has a break between semesters or graduation, please FIX the road appropriately. there is a lot of traffic on that street,a lot of parked cars and a lot of students that can get hurt by a swerving or out of control vehicle due to suspension/tire damage.
I just requested that this site's moderator put this issue where it belongs on the map & re-post it. (It's shown as being on Church St. S.--completely different "watch area".)
? church st so---you have got to be kidding me! my prior posts noted SCSU---somebody was not paying attention! also, when i have called the "pothole phone number",there appears to be no acknowledgement. AND the police are getting lay off notices! something is very wrong wrt the order of operations/communication flow....we need to fix this.
As I'm posting this I notice that it's still on the wrong place on the map (in the upper right corner of my screen). When you post a new issue be sure the address you type in and the google marker on the map are in agreement. If not, move the marker on the map by using your mouse. There seems to be a glitch in the SeeClickFIx program, because there are a number of times that issues from elsewhere end up near church st. so. (I receive auto notifications for issues in that area, but not issues near SCSU.)
from whalley avenue,in the center of westville, turn onto blake street;proceed to third light and turn left onto farnham avenue, which runs along SCSU properties. thanx.
CHRISTOPHER: I UPLOADED THE FORM TO SEND A CLAIM TO CORP.COUNSEL REGARDING A POTHOLE CLAIM.? IS A CLICK FIX REPORT ADEQUATE DOCUMENTATION OR DO I NEED A POLICE REPORT?---THERE WAS NO ACTUAL ACCIDENT INVOLVED. PLEASE REPLY TO PAULA BY EMAIL OR PHONE 2036451924.THANKS.THIS IS ABOUT FARNHAM,NEAR SCSU AND MY FEBRUARY POTHOLE INCIDENTS.I AM GOING IN FOR REPAIRS TOMORROW.
I don't know the actual procedure, but I doubt simply reporting it on seeclickfix is adequate. When I was called for jury duty years ago it was for a case brought against the city for damages caused by a pothole. The claimant was not willing to settle out of court for the amount offered by the city, so insisted on a civil trial. (I wasn't chosen as a juror.) I'd start by contacting city hall.
SORRY TO SAY,BUT CLICKFIX DID NOT HELP ME.TWO SEPARATE POTHOLE INCIDENTS ABOUT TWO YEARS APART WITH DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE EXCEEDING $4000.00 --AT THE SAME LOCATION IN NEW HAVEN--AND,YES,NOW THE HOLES ARE PATCHED, BUT THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AND CORPORATION COUNSEL CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILITY AND HAVE DENIED MY CLAIM. NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM THEY SAY.....I FILED A POLICE REPORT,CALLED CITY HALL,CALLED PUBLIC WORKS,NEVER GOT ACKNOWLEGED BY ANYONE WHEN I CALLED TO REPORT POTHOLES,AND COMMUNICATED WITH CLICKFIX AD NAUSEUM. WAS ANYONE LISTENING? WAS THE ISSUE GETTING TO THE RIGHT PARTIES? NEXT TIME,I WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME AND ENERGY TO REPORT OR COMMENT ON ANYTHING. INSTEAD,I WILL GO TO THE BEACH!!!!!!
As of 2013 City departments have begun to review, acknowledge and respond to SeeClickFix issues. Since your issue is in the category titled "No Service Request" and was submitted prior to 2013, we are going to close and archive it. If this issue still requires City attention, please report as a new SeeClickFix issue. Thank you.
