I posted this same issue on 311 app on 5/9. My service request is 124405 and the status is still 'Acknowledged." Not certain what the appropriate time is to expect an update.
A serious fire hazard like this should be addressed within days. Don't scold the person reporting the issue for waiting 2 weeks and reporting it again. Just get it handled Sac county so the neighborhood doesn't go up in flames
Okay, I will take the time to call and speak with someone regarding completing the task of which they were notified and acknowledged.
Not sure why a call is necessary nor why this does not suffice. I'll locate a more code operator should my subsequent USPS letter not reach it's destination...

It should not be the responsibility of the resident to follow up on an issue in order to get it addressed. Especially one like this that could take out several houses if it catches fire. And I hope the county code folks have a hierarchy for handling reports as not all reports are created equal. Does code admin suggest we file a new, duplicate report?
Thank you DW. For what it's worth Admin, my snarkiness aside, I understand that you did not create the system. It just seems to me (and apparently to DW as well) that a follow-up should not be my responsibility and, if it is, please add to instructions for users of this service that our follow-up is required (or at least requested) to confirm completion. Secondly, I would ask you to submit a request on my behalf a suggestion that would allow me to utilize my app to do my follow-up reporting.
We don't let rude or snarky people get under our skin. Life's far too short for that type of nonsense.
We will follow up on this as you requested. Please confirm the address is 2419 Maryall Dr as the address picked up by your phone gives a range of 2413 - 2419 Maryall Dr.

I have been using the Sac County 311 Connect phone application and have wondered if anyone is truly following-up on these reports since I never see anything in the 311 system showing what if anything the county has done.
From the exchange above, it is apparent that perhaps not all employees are in tune with 311 Connect as a 2-way form of communication between the county and reporting residents.
Having such a problem reporting system as 311 Connect gives residents the impression that they can report and receive updates on reported problems.
JRH - code case CODX2016-02589 was opened for this issue. The County is required to give the property owner 15 days to correct the violation. An inspection by a code enforcement officer will follow. If you have any questions, let me know.
Hi JRH -
I'm not able to go out in the field so I'm relying on you. Has there been any progress on this lot? Specifically, has the overgrown weeds been abated? Please let me know so I can push through this.
JRH - any progress? If none, I will have to escalate this beyond the code officer assigned to this area due to the lack of progress. I now understand how frustrating it is for constituents using this service. Please let me know and I will ascertain why officer has not taken action. I apologize for the inactivity on this property if no action has been taken.
Hello JRH~
Any progress? I just checked our case notes and the owner was assessed an inspection fee for failure to comply by our deadline to abate the violation.
Also, the case notes indicates Sac Metro Fire will be getting involved as well. The property owner should've done something by now.
Please let me know as I am not out on the field. Thank you.
Hi Admin-
Thanks so much for your follow-up. As of yesterday it was untouched. I was most concerned over the 4th of July, but it survived. I really appreciate the status updates too.
Please let me know if I can help in any way, John
Hi JRH,
The assigned officer is still working the case. This was his last notes entered on 7/11/16:
15-Day Continuing NOV out to P/O Site. Advised on NOV that timeline may be reduced to 48 hours if declared imminent fire hazard. AAE#77
Code Enforcement is also working with Sac Metro Fire District to get the PO to comply:
"Please forward the attached photos to SMFD for imminent hazard evaluation. The property is located at 2419 Maryal Dr, APN: 281-0051-003-0000, 8,276 sq ft in size. The property is undeveloped with tall dry weeds and other vegetation covering most of the property."
If there is no progress still, please let me know and I can see if there's anything that can be done to further expedite the process.
Thank you for being patient. I will act accordingly to your response.
As of July 19, 4:30pm, there has been NO work done to improve the condition of the property.
I really appreciate your follow-up on this issue. I am well-aware you have many to tend to. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist in the process,
John
As of 430 this afternoon the property owner has done nothing to fix this hazard . At what point will the county fix this hazard and send the owner the bill? Seems to me that several months is plenty of time to realize the owner will NEVER take care of this hazard. Hopefully the county will before disaster strikes
Everyone,
Unfortunately, the County just can't trespass and start whacking weeks on a property without owner's knowledge or consent. And as much as it pains me that we can't do so to get this property in compliance, I am trying my best as the office administrator to get this accomplished.
I am in contact with the supervisor for this area to find out what we can possible do to get this sooner. I, too, am frustrated with the lack of progress but the officer assigned to this case is following procedures.
Please, I ask for more patience. I will post again today what I find out today.
Good morning admin. This issue was first raised back in early May and on 5/31 you stated the owner had 15 days from notification to correct the violation. Was the property owner ever notified via an advisory letter back then? If so we're they also sent a Notice of Violation?
I do not believe it is trespassing for the county to abate properly noticed code violations that have not been resolved by the property owner. With the extreme fire hazard this violation presents to the neighborhood it should not take 3 months to resolve. Please escalate this issue to someone who can get it addressed immediately. Our neighborhood will thank you.
Admin, back on 4/28 of last year (yes 2015) i reported this exact same issue. Service ID 70320. Nothing ever happened and the case was listed as "closed" on 3/14/16 per Yanz. As a result, i hope you can understand our frustration with this yearly issue. Can we please get this issue resolved this year?
I do appreciate your efforts Admin, and understand the constraints of procedures.
As I have reason to believe, based on experience, that this will be an ongoing annual concern, I would like to state at this time, for our benefit and yours, that conditions be implemented to escalate this property and identify it as a nuisance.
Is there any provision or procedure available to me as a neighbor to do this?
If you cannot advise, please allow me to frame it this way: what would you do if you lived next door?
Thanks again, JRH
Good morning, everyone~
After the reviewing the case, the property owner complied after intervention from the area Sr. Code Officer. PO hired a third party to clean up property.
I truly apologized it took a while for the property to be in compliance. I recommend the following for future reports. The SeeClickFix system, while convenient, is admittedly not the best way to report violations. I would recommend going online to 311's direct web portal at: http://www.311.saccounty.net/Pages/New-Report.aspx and submitting your reports this way.
The mobile app is too unreliable with its many glitches including reporting a range of address (instead of a specific lot) or the GPS not picking the correct location. The vendor is aware of its many flaws and we are working with them to improve this.
Again, thank you for reporting this and our apologies for the length of time it took to resolve this.

Did you call 311 to find out what happened to your first request or did you just comment online?
Commenting online doesn't alert the people that need to know the issue remains.
Contact 311.

Your request will be processed in the order it was received to ensure fairness to other constituents who use this service as well.
Again, commenting online does not alert the persons that need to know it hasn't been address.
