The fire marshall has every right to have his hair styled in whatever way he chooses. This has no bearing whatsoever on his performance of his job. Your criticism of his appearance and assumptions about what kind of person might choose such a hairstyle is what is rude. Princeton may have a storied history bit perhaps we still need some help in the areas of tolerance and acceptance.

Are you serious? It seems that YOU are the rude one, "neighbor." My open comment to anyone from the town of Princeton, this long-time resident (PHS, PU, 25+ years) says "Ignore this rude and disrespectful comment."
