The signage here for cyclists is a little ambiguous. The sign directs cyclists to use the car lane instead of the bike path. Not sure why, as the bike path seems perfectly usable. If it's not, it should be coned off or something. Is it because there hasn't been a signal added near where the bike lane on Essex crosses with Dummer Street?

If I disobey the sign and choose to ride in the bike lane, then there's nothing telling me to stop, or traffic on Dummer St., to look out for me. If I obey the sign and merge with the cars on Essex, however, I get honked at and nearly hit every time. Please make the bike lane safe and usable by adding a stop sign at the intersection with Dummer St. I know to stop, of course, but let's give cyclists the same redundant safety design that we do for cars, especially if we want them to obey the same rules as cars. Cyclists shouldn't have to "assume" they should stop or "assume" cars don't see them. They should be able to simply follow the signs like other road users. Thank you.

(This is an old Google Maps photo before the construction, but it shows the location).

  • Charles River Dam Rd Boston 02114, United States - Central
The separate bike signal here is confusing drivers, especially at night. I have seen countless cars turning right against the red arrow (nearly hitting cyclists who have the right of way) because they see the green bike signal and mistake it for a green arrow. The previous illuminated “No Turn On Red” sign worked great, any chance you can install a new one? Or add another red arrow closer to the right side instead of up above traffic where it’s easy for drivers to miss? Something to make it more clear to drivers that they have “no turn on red” while the other lanes (including the bike lane) have a green light to go forward.
  • Soldiers Field Rd & Western Ave Allston, MA, 02134, USA - Allston-Brighton

The right most traffic lights when crossing from Western Ave over Memorial Ave display a solid red on top while those going straight had a green straight arrow. Then that light on the right changed to a green right turn signal.

This would be clearer if there was a red right arrow signal. We were driving straight, but the cars in front were confused and it caused a delay in driving or worst case could cause an accident in the multiple lanes at this location.

  • Milton Street Boston, Massachusetts - South Dorchester
There is a one way "Stop" sign at the intersection of Milton Street and Neponsit Valley Parkway with traffic coming from three different directions. The stop sign is ignored and traffic flowing from Neponsit Valley Parkway into Milton Street is complicated. It is a very dangerous intersection and there should be a three way light to avoid crashes.
  • 248 Bowdoin St Boston 02122, United States - South Dorchester
Driving east on bowdoin st should have a green arrow to turn left onto hamilton st before oncoming traffic gets green, traffic gets backed up because cars turning left onto hamilton st have to yield.

  • 200 Brookline Ave Boston 02215, United States - Fenway-Kenmore
People turn onto Brookline Ave despite the pedestrian crossing signal. Do they have a signal that conflicts with the pedestrian crossing?
  • 102 Old Ironsides Way Boston MA 02129, United States - Charlestown
Last time I'm going to say this... The chair is next to a BTD Sign. There are all Boston Transportation signs on this side of street. This is public parking . I'm NOT talking about their parking lot which you would have known if you actually drove over there. The next time you ignore this, I will be contacting your supervisor and I'll also be posting this multiple times
  • David G Mugar Way Boston 02116, United States - Beacon Hill
This traffic light should release cars going east and west at the same time. It is illogical to only let cars go east, or west, one at a time.
  • Western Ave Boston 02163, United States - Allston-Brighton
Traffic light is out on western ave as you cross the bridge from Cambridge to Boston side
